Veterans Memorial Plaza

Keego Harbor, Michigan

Working with Ivanhoe Huntley and the City of Keego Harbor, WH Canon Landscape Company was asked to value engineer a design for the Keego Harbor Veterans Memorial Plaza. After reviewing the plans several times, WH Canon Company was asked to completely redesign the plaza. The design that was created met all the needs of Keego Harbor, allowed for safe handicapped access, planned for more plants and was under budget. The Veterans Memorial Plaza is located at the intersection of two major roads in Keego Harbor in the Middle Boulevard. The plaza highlights a large boulder honoring veterans from Keego Harbor. The original placement of the boulder was on the ground with no landscaping or access. The redesigned plaza allows access to the boulder complete with a flag pole, lighting, seating and open space large enough for ceremonies. The second island is less formal with a walking path and benches to enjoy the landscape.
