Company History
The WH Canon Company was established in 1993 by Bill Canon as a full service landscape construction company. Working from a small office with a handful of staff, the company succeeded and grew because of an unwavering 
commitment to excellence. Early projects included Maya Lin’s Rosa Parks Circle in Grand Rapids and Wave Field at the University of Michigan.
Through hard work, the company continued to grow and was awarded numerous large, high profile projects including a complete restoration of Greenfield Village and the Ford Rouge Complex restoration. By 2001 the company outgrew the original office and in January 2002 WH Canon Company moved into the current location in Romulus, Michigan.
Since 2002 WH Canon Company has remained the region’s leading landscape contractor with an impressive portfolio of work including the Mall at Partridge Creek, DTE Energy Campus, MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, and the Kresge Foundation.
As the company evolved, our services expanded from construction to include landscape architecture, maintenance and a wide variety of special services. In 2004 WH Canon Company was listed as a 50 biggest firms by revenue and in 2007 WH Canon was listed as a top 100 company in the industry by Landscape Management.
Many of WH Canon’s projects have received awards from PLANET, Michigan Green Industry Association, Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association and ASLA Michigan Chapter.
In November of 2011 the founder and president of WH Canon Company, William Canon, passed away after a short battle with cancer. His knowledge, leadership and gregarious nature will be missed greatly. Fortunately through Bill’s foresight and with the assistance of a board of directors, in early 2012 Edward Ashcraft was unanimously selected as the company’s new president.
Under the guidance of Ed Ashcraft, the WH Canon Company continues to provide unmatched service. Our clients include dozens of Fortune 1000 companies and range from automotive and industrial leaders to healthcare providers, major universities, municipalities, sports complexes and retail centers.
The Employees of WH Canon make the company a success. The WH Canon Company recruits and hires industry leaders to manage all of our services. Our management, estimating and contract administration staff has extensive experience to assist our clients with any landscape maintenance or construction project. Our staff of 200+ employees includes registered landscape architects, LEED accredited professionals, certified landscape technicians, nurserymen, arborists and pesticide applicators.
